Here on Legends and Legacies, we adhere to the time-honored tradition of 'first come, first served' when it comes to who makes faction decisions.

On a more serious note, every player should consider themselves their own OOC faction leader. Even if it's just a faction of one character. The upshot of this is that the first player in that larger faction gets to help set the stage for the rest of the faction. Superwoman's player, for instance will set up the timeline of events and family relationships that accommodate Kal-El, Conner, Zod, and all the other Kryptonians. The first Fantastic Four member will help flesh out the background that supports the others.

This is a privilege of public service, not a gift. The faction head is also expected to make sure their timeline marries perfectly with the theme. Plots and character changes need to integrate with the larger game canon and the Faction Leader must monitor those closely. There is a delicate balance between creating a framework for new players without forcibly locking them down into a single person's 'vision' for those following characters.

Reporting goes upstream. For instance, someone might pick [[Illyana Rasputina]] up and decide to set the stage for the [[New Mutants]]. Because the New Mutants spin off of the X-men, this would have to be cleared with the X-men 'faction head'. In turn, the X-men faction head will report to the Theme Wizard to keep the canon consistent and ordered.

Over time, Faction Leaders will spend less time managing timelines and theme as these things are written in stone, so to speak. Any intention to retcon or rewrite our established canon and timeline will need to be passed up to the Theme Wiz for close scrutiny; we recognize sometimes it is necessary to do this but prefer to see it happen only when dire.
