In 1500 BCE, there was a brief but violent clash between Asgard and Thanagar, resuming their ancient interstellar war.

A ship bearing two scouts was badly damaged mid-warp and crash-landed on Earth.

It was found by [[Black Adam|Teth-Adam]], the royal Prince, next in line to rule unified Egypt and [[Khandaq]] (married to pharoah's daughter).

Two Thanagarians are found alive. Teth-Adam embraces them as allies and welcomes them into his court. The Thanagarians engage in cultural exchange with Egypt. Teth-Adam welcomes their advice and Egypt enters a golden age of economic and social prosperity.

A sect worshipping the Thanagarians as gods springs up. Teth-Adam is slow to censure the cultists, and the Thanagarians disavow it but are unable to stop it. The sect grows until the high priest of Amon-Ra feels personally threatened. The god Set approaches him and helps the high priest steal one of the Nth-metal daggers as part of a plot to kill the royal family.

The assassins attack the home of Teth-Adam, but bad intelligence leads them to miss his departure. They kill his wife and son, implicating the hawkpeople in the process. Teth-Adam vows furious retribution and attacks the hawkpeople, killing them. Their bodies are profaned by the high priest, working on behalf of Set, to ensure their spirits are bound forever to the sands.

He later discovers that they were framed by his own high priest. Remorse fills him and he petitions Isis for forgiveness to undo his mistake. She cannot undo their deaths, but the wizard Nabu offers an alternate solution. They unbind the spirits of the hawkpeople, setting them on a cycle of endless death and rebirth that spans both Earth and Thanagar.
