Zorro was one of the first 'caped vigilantes' in the new lands of America at the turn of the 19th century. The wealthy Don [[Diego de la Vega]] fought on behalf of the poor people of colonial Mexico, particularly guarding them from the barbaric excesses of the Spanish governors.

After the Mexican Revolution for independence, Don de la Vega retired from his role as Zorro. In time he passed the mask on to a young street thief named [[Alejando Murrieta]]. Alejandro was groomed to become a vigilante and in time, inherited the role of Zorro from his mentor.

Zorro has become a figure of legend in the culture of the American southwest. It has become an icon more than a man. Always dressed in black, wielding a sword, whip, and pistol under black mask and cape.
