Carter Hall was the reincarnation of Prince Khufu of Egypt.
He was a founding member of the Defenders and fought alongside them to keep the Germans out of Africa during WWII. He adopted the nom-de-guerre of Hawkman, along with his wife Sheila Hall, aka Hawkgirl.
