Ororo Munroe is one of the senior members of the X-men.
Ororo is a descendant of Gaea and the ideologue of the concept of 'weather'. Anywhere Gaea's touch is felt, the weather responds to Ororo's willpower.
Ororo Munroe's dramatic life began before she was born, the produce of the whirlwind romance of Kenyan mystic N'Dare and world-renowned photojournalist David Munroe. At a young age, Ororo was exposed to a wide view of the world, traveling with her family wherever her father's work took them.
Tragedy struck the Munroes on one assignment; when David, N'Dare and Ororo were caught in a conflict between warring insurgent factions while on assignment in Cairo. All three were caught under a wall that was destroyed in an explosion; both David and N'Dare were killed. Five-year-old Ororo survived. Scarred emotionally and finding herself trapped in a foreign land, Ororo survived as a homeless orphan, stealing what she needed to survive. Eventually she found herself in the employ of Achmed El-Gibar, a powerful but benevolent thief located in Cairo.
Achmed was not always kind but rarely cruel, and she survived where many children might have perished. At twelve, she dreamed of a place beyond the city. Past the deserts and the mountains, through heat and ice, where her people lived forever.
She travelled a thousand miles, on foot, in carriage, by bus and train. She arrived in the lands of the Serengeti tribes and found her home with them.
