Helheim is a sub-dimension of Niffleheim. It is presided over by the goddess Hela who supervises the dead souls that come into that realm.
The virtuous and worthy proceed to Elysium, a paradise of rest. The unworthy, dishonored, and wicked are sent into Hel, a barbaric and cruel place where souls either prey upon one another or submit to punishment to make up for a lifetime of misdeeds.
