Darkseid is the ruler of the planet Apokalips. He is thousands of years old and immensely powerful. Darkseid's power stems not only from Celestial genetics, but from his creation of a 'negative pole' to counteract the harmony of New Genesis. This inversion of the Power Cosmic is called the Omega Force. Whereas the Power Cosmic is used to create, the Omega Force is used only to destroy.
