Tian is the "Seat of Heaven", the realm wherein resides the gods of China collectively known as Tianxia.

China in particular has a complex and fragmented polytheism due to the independent nature of many of the New Gods. Groups of particular import include the Eight Immortals, Three Pure Ones, and the Five Emperors and Three Sovereigns. Deep veneration for ancestors has produced a harmony for souls in Tian that can elevate much revered predecessors to the point that they become minor deities themselves, such as the Yellow Emperor.

Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, is a trickster deity who appears frequently in Chinese history.

Zhulong the Red Dragon chiefly oversees the spirits associated with animal presences, including the other dragons.
