Niffleheim
Niffleheim is the final resting place for the dead of The Nine Realms. It shares space with the realm of Helheim.
Nifflehiem itself is a cold, misty place that is hostile to most life. It is populated primarily by Ice Giants, who are territorial and aggressive to living creatures which enter their realm.
The dead must make the march from the edges of Niffleheim to the center of that land, to their final reckoning in front of Hela. The worthy and the virtuous will find harmony in Elysium. The dishonorable face punishment in Hel.
Niffleheim serves to feed the Demiurge through the roots of Yggdrasil. The eternal spring Hvergelmir is one of the sources of energy for the World Tree. The serpent Nidhogg is a demon native to Helheim who gnaws on the roots of Yggdrasil.
