Hope van Dyne

Hope van Dyne, daughter of Janet van Dyne and Hank Pym.

Hope was born in 1981, while her mother and father were active members of Stormwatch and assisting SHIELD's mission of global peace. Janet van Dyne died in the line of duty when Hope was six years old. This resulted in Hank entering a deep and severe depression that led to him distancing himself from his daughter and the two eventually growing estranged.

Throwing herself into extracurriculars, Hope demonstrated a combination of her mother's aristocratic grace and her father's stubborn, leaping intellect. She competed at a national level in Judo and later was an early adopter of the Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu method. In high school she graduated valedictorian with honors in Sciences. She earned dual bachelors' degrees at UCLA in engineering and business management, which set her up nicely to return to Pym Technologies as an active member of the Board of Directors.

In 2012, Hope cast the deciding vote to oust Hank Pym from his position as CEO of Pym Technologies, fearing his psychosis and mood disorders had degenerated into dementia.

She later discovered that Pym's protege, Darren Cross, was intending to replicate Pym's research into shrinking technology and sell it to the highest bidder. In 2016 she and her father staged a daring raid on Pym Technology's main campus with the help of Scott Lang, now titled as Ant-Man. Hope then took on her mother's old role of 'The Wasp'.
