John Constantine

John Constantine was born May 10, 1953.

There are two sides to John Constantine. The first is as a magus of immense knowledge and the power that goes with such knowledge. The breadth of his knowledge of the occult and arcane is virtually without peer. He is familiar with magical and shamanic traditions from millennia of human practice. Often called one of the Laughing Magicians, Constantine is a member of an ancient bloodline stretching back to the dawn of humanity. He has stolen forth across time and space, dancing between places mortals are forbidden. He has chastised gods, outsmarted Lucifer, and defeated endless numbers of demons. Most of the supernatural world views him with extreme wariness. Where the Laughing Magician goes, death invariably follows.

The other side of Constantine is a moody, narcissistic drunk with a severe alcohol dependency and flagrant disregard for social mores. He's a prolific Casanova, sometimes with little regard for gender (or species). Constantine can be hateful or even cruel to people close to him and often views the folk in his life as dumb pawns in an endless game of war with the forces of evil and entropy. He has relatively few friends and leaves nothing but broken hearts and short sticks in his wake as he emerges from every disaster looking sharper and smarter, while his "friends" and allies are forced to pick up the pieces.
