Selene Gallio

Selene Gallio was an archmagess of ancient Atlantis and one of the few survivors of Ragnarok.

Arrogant even by the standards of her peers, Selene's knowledge of magic was exceptional. She was one of the very few mages privy to the Atlantean ambition of cracking the cosmic language of Enochian and metamorphing humanity into peers of the New Gods.

When the Celestial war-host attacked the Demiurge, Selene's awesome powers contributed greatly to the war effort. Her expertise as a necromancer preserved many lives and took great casualties from the Celestial foot soldiers.

When Morgana Le Fay betrayed Atlantis and cracked Yggdrasil, Selene's powers abandoned her almost entirely. A desperate last-ditch measure tapped into the forbidden magic of the Realm Between Worlds, the very poison that had destroyed R'lyeh. She transformed herself into a psionic vampire, consuming human spirits to stay alive.

She clashed frequently with the other immortals of the Hyborean Era. At times she slumbered to survive, hibernating for centuries.

With the return of the Demiurge's power, Selene stirred from her slumber and started interacting with humanity again. She was stymied repeatedly by heroic interlopers who prevented her schemes and machinations from succeeding. Several times she clashed with Vandal Savage, and developed a particular enmity with old Merlyn and his endless apprentices in the Sorcerers Supreme.
